Gear Pumps

Crane Engineering offers gear pumps for a wide range of fluid process applications. They function best on viscous fluids with lubricating characteristics such as oils, paints, pigments, and corn syrup plus many industrial chemicals such as resins.

A gear pump is a type of positive displacement pump that moves fluid between the gear teeth and pump housing in a fixed volume proportional to speed. Gear pumps are compact and simple with a limited number of moving parts.

External Gear Pump:

An external gear pump consists of two identical interlocking gears supported by separate shafts. External gear pumps have tight internal clearances providing a controlled flow.

Internal Gear Pump:

Internal gear pumps have two interlocking gears of different sizes with one rotating inside the other. These pumps are very versatile, durable, and have both a high viscosity and temperature range.
