City of Seymour Wastewater Treatment Plant - Seymour, WI
Situation – The City of Seymour Wastewater Treatment Plant’s existing primary treatment area was inefficient and in need of upgrade. The original equipment worked to grind and treat large debris such as plastics and rags, and then return this ground-up material to the waste stream. As a result, plant personnel had to periodically shovel out a stepped channel to clear it of clogged debris.
Results –The plant superintendent consulted with Crane Engineering sales staff and found the city could save over $50,000 by installing the necessary new equipment to actually remove debris from the waste stream with minimal assistance from Crane. A new Hycor Helisieve Screen was installed in the existing channel, and the city’s existing Pista Grit unit was retrofitted with a Gorman-Rupp self-priming centrifugal pump to extract grit slurry and deliver it to a new Wemco Hydrogritter for dewatering.
“I recommend Crane to others,” the plant superintendent said. “They not only sell equipment, but they also maintain and repair what they sell. They can be a full-service turnkey shop if that’s what you need, but they were also very honest with us about how we could do the work ourselves to save money. No matter what, they were there to offer advice along the way and even supervise our successful start-up.” |
