Kaukauna Electric & Water – Kaukauna, WI
Situation – Kaukauna Electric & Water knows firsthand why Crane was selected as Goulds Pump’s service shop for Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The utility’s experience started early one Wednesday morning.
Results –
9:30 a.m. – Pump that supplies high pressure water to the city’s industrial park goes out. Crane service technician called.
10:00 a.m. – Crane service technician arrives on site and assesses the problem. Discovers the pump’s mechanical seal was damaged from a high dose of pH control chemicals.
11:00 a.m. – Pump is pulled and taken to Crane’s shop, where the pump components are bead blasted and the pump is rebuilt using a Durametallic RO seal.
2:15 p.m. – Technician returns to the job site with the rebuilt pump.
3:30 p.m. – Pump is reinstalled, laser aligned and restarted.
“The 5 ½-hour turnaround on the pump repairs was excellent service,” said the Water Superintendent and Safety Director at Kaukauna Electric & Water. “Crane treated the outage as an emergency situation, which it would have been had something also happened to our backup booster pump. Loss of the second pump would have limited our ability to supply the Industrial Park at a higher pressure, as well as maintain an adequate water supply in the park’s water tower. We’ve always been very happy with the service we get from Crane.” |
